Description | Surrey Marble Vinca is an evergreen plant hardy to Zone 6 but will overwinter in Zone 5. |
---|---|
Plant Type | Indoor Foliage, Perennials Hardy, Vines |
Hardiness Zone | (5)6 |
Sunlight | Full sun to shade: The best color is probably halfway between the two extremes. In full hot sun, the color tends to fade for me. |
Moisture | average |
Soil & Site | average |
Temperature | Tolerates and thrives in cooler temperatures. |
Flowers | Single blue flowers. In zone 5, it seems to be a shy bloomer. |
Leaves | They are evergreen colored green with a golden center irregular patch. In zone 5, where they are tender, they are only semievergreen. |
Stems | Grows as a vine or creeping stem. |
Dimensions | It can grow at least 24-30 inches long. |
Maintenance | Pruning controls the length and encourages side branching to produce a fuller plant. |
Propagation | cuttings |
Author's Notes | In zone #5, we treat this plant as an annual, using it in containers and baskets to drape over the sides. It can also be grown indoors as a house plant in a cool or cold, bright window. It has overwintered for me in zone #5 a few times and even flowered. |
