Mealybugs are sap-sucking, soft-bodied, wingless insects. They are covered in a white, sticky powder that looks like cornmeal, often appearing as white cottony masses on plant leaves, stems, and fruit. They also excrete honeydew, which allows for the growth of black sooty mold.
