Cultivar OriginFirst collected by Thomas Nuttall "on the Missouri".in 1814. Nuttall named the plant Chrysopsis villosa in 1836 and was moved to the Heterotheca genus in 1951.
Misc FactsName derived from "chryos" meaning gold and yellow. Heterotheca: derived from Greek heteros, "different," and theke, "ovary," from the unlike achenes of the ray and disk florets (syn Chrysopsis villosa)
