A dramatic Fothergilla starting with flowers, followed by green leaves and changing to powder blue. I first stumbled across this plant and the intense powder blue of the foliage was hard to believe.

Originated as a branch sport of Mt Airy at Handy Nursery in Oregon, USA. Patented by Gary Handy. My main source of nomenclature for woody plants is Dirr's Manual of Woody Landscape Plants, I varied from this using the new species name presented by Rick Darke in his article "Fothergilla in Cultivation"
Misc Facts
Genus name honors John Fothergill (1712-1780), a Quaker physician from Essex, United Kingdom, who introduced and promoted in England a number of plants native to the U.S.A. (#144)
