air layering

A method of plant propagation where a cut is made in the stem of the plant, wrapped with sphagnum moss in water proof material, and the plant will form roots at this point. Most herbaceous plants that form a cane (stought stem) can easily be propagated using this method. Also a good way for some woody plants.

This is a large Yucca. Cuts were made in the stem and the area was packed with wet sphagnum moss and wrapped with the black plastic.
