Flowers
flat-topped cymes consisting of an outer ring of showy sterile flowers and an inner area of inconspicuous fertile flowers, starts the end of May to early June
Fruit
Red showy fruit are pendulous berry-like drupes that persist late into the winter. Fruit is not very tasty to humans or birds.
Leaves
medium to dark green, opposite, ovate, trilobed, and deeply incised, about 3" long and 3" wide, with acute apices and a truncate base, fall color not dependable and only fair at best
Dimensions
Reaches 5-6 feet tall be equal spread, a rather loosely branched shrub
Maintenance
Occasionally visited by aphids. These pests seem to be more of an annoyance to humans than a determent to the plant.

Not real showy as a young plant. The potted plants have few stems. Sometimes hard to sell at the garden center until they flower. This has been a very dependable ornamental shrub for my landscape plantings in zone #5.
