Description

Kiss-Me-Over-The-Gate (Polygonum orientale) is a very tall member of the Knotweed family that has been used in gardens since the time of Thomas Jefferson. Reaching up too 7 feet tall. Can become an invasive plant in the garden. A tender perennials grown as an annual.

MaintenanceAs with most Knot Weeds this plant is no exception, it will readily reseed and can become invasive. Especially in moist sites.
Propagationseeds, germination improved by cold stratification, I had trouble germinating so I just put the seed pots outside and the cold I am assuming helped the germination.
Cultivar OriginFirst grown in Williamsburg by John Curtis in 1737 also used by Thomas Jefferson.

Author's NotesThe first time I saw this plant in bloom at the Botanical Gardens I asked the gardener "is this a gigantic Knotweed, "Polgonum" he looked at me somewhat surprised and responded yes.
