Dimensions
I first used this shrub around the mid 1980's and the original plant is around 12-18" tall by 8 plus feet in spread.
Maintenance
The plant will occasionally have some die back. These branches need to be removed because this distracts from the beauty of the bluish foliage. This is only minimal work. Wear a good pair of gloves because the foliage is rather prickly.
Propagation
cuttings
Native Site
The species Juniperus squamata is native throughout Asia.
Cultivar Origin
The Blue Star Juniper is a branch sport from Juniperus squamata "Meyerii" in 1950.
Author's Notes
This plant seems to be widely available to the retail market. I really like the slow growth and the blue foliage color. Works well in perennial gardens with low growing plants
