A short, wide spreading groundcover type shrub. One of the more commonly used Cotoneasters in the USA.

Maintenance
The only thing special that I do to this shrub is once or twice a year remove some of the taller stems that stand up, above the rest of the plant. In large beds that need lots of pruning I will use a power hedge shears to bring the plants down to size.

Author's Notes
I like to use this plant in my designs because of the glossy leaves and the red fruit. During very cold winters with little snow cover, some winter damage can occur.
