TemperatureIf properly acclimated it can be put out early in the spring, will also tolerate light frosts. I use to grow this plant in cold frames along with Petunias and Viola. (Zone #5)
FlowersThe white flowers are can reach 4" long and are made up of a fused corolla tube with, five angular calyx. Many types are fragrant.
LeavesThe leaves are large, sessile, somewhat wavy and slightly clasping the stem.
DimensionsI have seen this plant as tall as 5'. Can be planted 12-18" or more on center.
Maintenanceif grown in shade they may need to be staked, will readily reseed
PropagationBy seeds or collecting the seedlings that pop up in the garden in the spring.
Misc FactsNicotiana sylvestris is native to Argentina. Sylvestris means "of the woods". The dried seed pods can be used in everlasting bouquets, somewhat wavy and slightly clasping the stem
