Cultivar OriginThe T. kaufmanniana tulips are native to Turkistan and were introduced into Europe by the Dutch firm Van Tubergen. Being developed directly from the species plants they are called Botanical Tulips.
Author's NotesOver the years I have used Kaulmanniana Tulips in many gardens. Their short stature keeps the plants tucked away out of the wind and they bloom when the weather is still cool. The combination of these factors gives a rather long period of bloom.
