A very long blooming perennial plant for the full sun to light shade areas of the garden. Voted by the Perennial Plant Association as the perennial plant of the year for "2000".

The foliage will be around 12-16" tall with the flowers an additional foot above this. The total over all height for my plants were around 16-18". Space around 16-18".

Cultivar Origin
The cultivar was originated by David Tristram of Ireland.
Misc Facts
The name is derived from the stamens of the flower. They stand above the petals and resemble a pin cushion full of pins. The name Scabiosa is derived from scabies, itch; in regard to the plant's supposed properties of curing irritation of the skin.

I have used this plant only a few times and find it not to over winter very well in our area (zone #5)
