Insectivorous plants are found mainly
in swamps and bogs of tropical and temperate regions. The soils they
live in is very low in nitrogen. To obtain this nitrogen they have
evolved insect trapping leaves. These leaves not only capture the
insect but they digest it getting the necessary nitrogen. Plants such
as Pitcher Plants, Sundews, Bladderworts and the ever popular Venus
Fly trap are all members of this group. |
